The Tarzan Boat: A Whole New Way to Enjoy Big Bear Lake

Make a Splash This Summer!

Tarzan Boat, a jungle-themed, floating waterpark with six different exciting ways to get wet and enjoy Big Bear Lake, is the latest innovation at Captain John’s Fawn Harbor and Marina on Big Bear Lake. Though there are similar vessels on the east coast, this is the only mobile waterpark available on the west coast.

What are its features?

The Monkey and Gorilla Jump

These are two platforms at different heights that allow you to jump, spin, or cannonball into the lake. The Tarzan Boat is fitted with green turf to prevent slipping while you do your acrobatics and show off to family, friends, or that special someone. Once in the water, you can either swim up to the boat and climb back on via the ladder on the base platform of the boat, or catch the life preserver being towed along to catch stragglers.

The Monkey and Gorilla Bounce

The Monkey and Gorilla Bounce are two Olympic-grade trampolines that allow people to bounce, catch some air, and then catch some water. The trampolines are angled so that

they will project you up and away from the boat. Each has a platform runway fitted with green turf to prevent slipping and accidents. Some people can catch as much as 15 to 20 feet of air over the lake’s surface off the Gorilla bounce!

The Tarzan Swing

The Tarzan Swing is a rope swing that gives you the opportunity to feel like the king or queen of the jungle. The swing hangs from one of the monkey bars on the top platform, and you can use it to jump, dive, or just swing into the lake. There is also a life preserver being towed along to catch any stragglers.

The Jungle Slide

The water slide is a 12-foot long waterslide that starts on the top platform and goes all the way into the lake. You can slide down by yourself or with a friend.

A Note About Safety

The floating waterpark is located just off the north coast of Fawnskin, near Captain John’s Fawn Harbor and Marina. The anchor point has a depth of 10 to 12 feet. Every hour on the hour, an electric jungle-safari boat transports people to and from the marina docks.

On the shuttle ride to Tarzan Boat, the marina staff explains the safety regulations to passengers. The Tarzan Boat is always manned by two fully licensed lifeguards, and it comes with life vests for everyone on board.

Who Can Participate?

A paying adult must be with children under the age of 12. Participants aged 12 and younger must pass a swim test before using the boat’s features, and they must wear life jackets at all times.

The maximum number of passengers on a Tarzan Boat is 30 people at one time. Headfirst diving or flipping is not permitted.

When Does Tarzan Boat Operate?

The boat operates from the summer months through September. Hours of operation are 9 – 5 daily  with multiple sessions throughout the day.

General admission pricing is per person and can either be booked in advance or by walk-in.

Per Person rates are:

  • $25 – 1 hour
  • $40 – 2 hours
  • $50 – 3 hours
  • $60 – 4 hours

The Tarzan Boat is available for private parties of 11 to 20 people for either two or three-hour sessions, or 21 to 30 people for four-hour sessions. The cost of a private party rental is $480 and up. Private gatherings must make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance. All prices, rules, and restrictions are subject to change.
